Ice melts quickly in these tumblers and they are uncomfortable to pick up since they are very cold on the outside and dripping wet. You really need expensive coasters that will handle all of the condensation.. I do like the colors and the retro aspect. Don't know if they scratch yet. I wouldn't say they are good for children.

This retro looking glass set(which is not really glass, but a type of metal) is really a throwback to yesteryear. It reminds me of hot afternoons, sipping an ice cold drink out of a glass just like one of these. Somehow the beverage, no matter what we were drinking, iced tea, lemonade, koolaid, or a fruit drink, it always seemed colder and more refreshing in one of these glasses. It might have been my imagination but everything seemed to stay cold longer too. Love these glasses! Love the colors also, so everyone can keep track of which one is theirs. I have had them for over 3 years and they still look great, (remember don't put these in the dishwasher). even water is good....but my memories are of koolade w/ice. I even sent 2 of the 6 to my daughter so she could experience what I had and remembered so fondly. They DO have larger tumblers and matching Pitcher which would be great too.
The only CON I can think of is they're NOT dishwasher safe....but still worth having. Im glad I found them again!!!

I have looked all over for these glasses! I remember my mom having a set of these when I was a kid. My daughter & I have looked for these forever! We both love them! Drinks in them stay cold forever, but your hands can get cold too. My daughter doesn't want to use any other glass now. The only con, (if it is one-because it's just something someone told me & I don't know if it's true or not)-anyway, the only possible con is that the metal glasses that were made a few decades ago were made with much heavier metal. But, even if it is true, we still love them!

I remember drinking out of these cups as a child at my grandmas house who we affectionatly called (MotherDear) Mother Dear is now passed on and besides the shape of the cup it brings me closer to her then ever.. true story maybe corny but true. These glasses are/were so much fun! We used them all the time growing up. They do take me back and they are a great story telling item with exteneded younger family.
The only problem, they are dishwasher safe however, over the years the color/shine disappears. I would suggest hand wash only if you want to preserve the look.

Our guests always remark about the color and feel of these retro aluminum tumblers. All the senses seem to be heightened from this one drinking experience. I bought this set to give as a gift to a family who visited recently and all, especially the teen aged sons, were excited to discover this new way to enjoy a beverage. I can't think of much a teen age boy would get excited about other than cars and electronics, so to hear them encourage their mom to "get some for us" was a treat. I haven't tried them in the dishwasher and I will not serve milk products in them since it would be hard to see if they come perfectly clean. I use them for water and juice and soft drinks. I like to keep them out sometimes just for the color experience.

It's like going back in time to the 1960's when I visited Grandma's house and she served up drinks in these glasses. Grandma never owned a dishwasher, so she wasn't aware of the one downside. These Retro glasses are perfect except that they require hand washing. Not only are they extremely attractive, they keep things very cold as the aluminum insulates much more effectively than plastic does. I have four sets of the 30 oz and two sets of the 16 oz. Highly recommend to all!

They are a perfect alternative for outdoor/indoor use instead of plastic glasses which when in the heat can cause release of dangerous chemicals to person using them. Plastic glasses, in general, must be hand washed also.

These aluminum drink tumblers reminded me of how we would get these from the milk man but they'd be filled with cottage cheese and sealed with foil. When empty you could keep the tumblers and collect them in various colors. They REALLY kept your kool aid and ice tea cold and icy on a hot summer day in Southern California where I grew up in the 50's...I do wonder if they can safely go in the dishwasher though. We purchased these primarily to use outdoors and indoors for informal occasions. The jewel tone colors are fabulous, the weight is supposed to be light but these feel like feather-weights so I am leary of longevity use. Also I would have liked the inside to be unpainted aluminum but these are the same color inside and out, I am leary of paint hazards these days, no label or advertising suggesting the paint is safe and lead-free, we can just assume? I also purchased the terry cloth elastic wraps that prevent condensation from collecting on surfaces and our hands do not freeze with iced beverages! Overall I give them 3 stars because they are so attractive, can go in the dishwasher and they will not break like glass, they are not unhealthy plastic and lastly they are a perfect size at 16 oz capacity. Unsure of recommending to a friend just because of the paint factor uncertainlty, however they show no sign of paint chipping or bubbling.

We drink a lot of ice tea and these glasses are perfect. The aluminum holds the cold long after the ice melts. The only thing I would do is put some kind of a "sleeve" on them, because they get too cold to hold. A bamboo weave would be nice.
